Capital Maintenance and Repairs Are As Vital As Ever

It’s May-cember – that time of the year when our calendars fill up with all sorts of end-of-school-year events, such as field day, spirit weeks, and graduations. It’s almost like December, but without the presents. For those of us in the community association world, May-cember also marks the start of the busy season with swimming pools opening, capital maintenance and repair projects starting, and rule violations occurring. In this Newsletter, we will address some upcoming deadlines for community association managers, as well as other items that should be on all community association radars as we proceed into Summer 2025.

COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION MANAGER LICENSE RENEWAL

For community association managers (“CAM”) licensed on or before August 31, 2023, the deadline for license renewal with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (“IDFPR”) is August 31, 2025. As part and parcel of that license renewal, CAMs must complete twelve (12) hours of continuing education, including sexual harassment prevention training, through a CAM education sponsor registered with the IDFPR. K&M’s upcoming webinars on June 18, 2025, July 23, 2025, and August 27, 2025, have all been approved for IDFPR credit. A link to register for our June 18, 2025 webinar is provided below.

In addition, Dawn and Gabby will be presenting at the upcoming CAI-Illinois Legal Forum on May 13, 2025. The CAI-Illinois Legal Forum will include seminars presented by eight (8) Illinois law firms, which focus their practice on the representation of community associations. This two (2) day virtual event will occur on May 13, 2025, and May 20, 2025, and will provide attendees with twelve (12) hours of continuing education credit. A link to register for the CAI-Illinois Legal Forum may be found here: CAI Illinois Learning Center: Legal Forum 2025 – Live Webinar. Dawn and Gabby hope to “see” you there!
